Overlake's Heart and Vascular Center Construction Project Receives $1 Million Gift

Facility to be named after donors David and Shelley Hovind

Bellevue, Wash. - The Overlake Hospital Foundation announced today that Overlake Hospital Medical Center's Heart & Vascular Center construction project received a $1 million gift from David and Shelley Hovind. The new facility will consolidate all cardiac and vascular services in one location to allow for an enhanced patient experience and physician integration.

"We are excited to make this announcement and are grateful to David and Shelley for their extraordinary generosity and commitment to Overlake and the Eastside," said Molly Stearns, executive director of the Overlake Hospital Foundation. "80 percent of donations to hospitals in the U.S. come from grateful patients and their families, just like David and Shelley," Stearns said.

With this donation, the Foundation has now raised $1.45 million for the new center, just over half way toward the minimum goal of $2.75 million.

"Shelley and I have each experienced the effects of heart disease among our family and friends," said David Hovind. "We believe Overlake's cardiac and vascular services are unparalleled in the region and this new center will elevate their outstanding program even further."
