Overlake Names New Hospitalist and Director-Level Staff

Bellevue, WA – Overlake Hospital Medical Center recently added a new hospitalist physician and three new staff directors: director of Women's and Infant Services, director of Technology and Security and director of Patient Experience.

Kerry Eby, MD, joined the Overlake medical staff as a hospitalist physician. Eby is an internal medicine physician who cares for patients at Overlake during their hospital stays and is a member of the hospital's Palliative Care Team. Before joining Overlake, Eby worked as an attending physician in the emergency services department at Harborview Medical Center and also served as the associate director of the Palliative Care Service there. Eby earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Marianne Pizzitola, RN, BSN, was promoted to director of Women's and Infants' Services. Pizzitola oversees Overlake's Childbirth Center, Women's Clinics and Women's and Infants' Boutique. She initially joined Overlake in 1982 as the manager of the Intensive Care Unit. Since that time, Pizzitola has filled many roles and provided leadership to a number of clinical areas, which have included Post Anesthesia Care, Emergency Services and Patient Care Support Services. Pizzitola has also been instrumental in developing an orientation program for new nurse managers.

Overlake hired Howard Binner as director of Technology and Security. One of Binner's chief responsibilities is to assist Overlake with implementing its integrated electronic medical record system on the hospital campus. Before joining Overlake, Binner held similar Information Systems positions at Swedish Medical Center, where he focused on system integration and system architecture and before that, at Group Health, where he managed the enterprise infrastructure, application development, server and storage teams as well as IT operations.

Elaine Goehner, RN, PhD, holds the newly created position of director of Patient Experience. The scope of her work includes Overlake's continuous improvement in the patient and family experience using the principles of patient and family-centered care. Most recently, Goehner led the development and implementation of the health literacy and patient and family education initiative for the Multicare Health System. Her previous roles include director of education and professional development at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif.; director of clinical improvement at VHA, West; director of quality, risk, and regulatory management at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.; and director of the Center for Nursing Excellence at Swedish Medical Center.
