Volunteers who join our Healing Arts program are certified and/or trained in their respective areas of expertise. The Healing Arts program is designed to alleviate stress, provide positive distraction, enliven the human spirit and provide comfort and or support to our patients, families and guests.

Volunteers in this program must be a certified pet therapy/pet partner teams through an accredited pet therapy institution (such as Pet Partners) that provides insurance and certification. Our pet partner volunteer teams visit our patients in designated units at the bedside and the staff throughout the hospital in public areas. Volunteers interested in joining the pet partners are asked to contact Volunteer Services or call 425.688.5103.
Volunteers in this program are certified humorists or laugh therapists and provide healing through humor. Dressed in costume, mirth volunteers visit patients and their families on designated units.
Special Touch/Healing Touch
Volunteers in this program are certified massage therapists and provide soft rubs to our patients’ hands, arms, neck and feet at their bedside. Healing Touch volunteers are certified and use light, gentle or near body touch to create balance, energy and comfort in the healing process.
Sit and Knit
Volunteers join our group of knitters to make hats for cancer patients and blankets for premature infants. All knitted items are donated and completed per hospital requirements by this group that meets weekly on the hospital campus and off site.
Groups of volunteers from the community create handmade quilts and blankets per hospital requirements and donate them to our families and patients experiencing long stays.
