Strategy and Service Development
The Strategy and Service Development Department develops the corporate vision and strategic plan for the hospital and assists service line leaders in developing service-specific strategic plans for their respective areas. As part of each strategic plan tactics are needed to realize the overall vision, and business and program plans are developed to outline these tactics. Occasionally, department staff implement program plans with service line and executive leaders to ensure long term success.
Individuals who work in the department enjoy the variety of projects and other departments that they are able to interact with. Staff members enjoy learning about new services and technologies and helping departments realize their potential for success.
Entry level candidates usually begin in the planning analyst position, learning the various data systems within the organization and the basics of strategic planning, business development and project management. After these skills have been mastered, the planning analyst can move into the consultant position which is more independent, has greater responsibility and visibility within the organization, and provides mentorship for incoming planning analysts.
Staff are encouraged to continue learning and advance their skills and knowledge through various seminars and workshops.
Positions are full time and staff generally work a typical daytime shift five days per week.

The department is very small and is comprised of a director, planning analyst, consultant and an occasional program coordinator during new program implementation and initial operations.
