What is Overlake Network Exchange (ONE)?

The Overlake Network Exchange (ONE) is technology available to community providers that creates the important connections which make continuity of patient care and team-based care possible – both within and outside the walls of Overlake Hospital and Overlake Medical Clinics.   We’re connecting physicians, patients and experts—ONE patient, ONE record.

What is Health Information Exchange (HIE)?

HIE (Health Information Exchange) enables the secure exchange of appropriate health information, including clinical and administrative information at both the provider and patient level.  HIE allows doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other health care providers and patients to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s vital medical information electronically—improving the speed, quality, safety and cost of patient care.

What are the benefits of using HE solutions?

Using health information exchange solutions enables access to your patients’ vital medical history, anywhere at Overlake Medical Center where your patients are receiving care—specialists’ offices, labs or emergency rooms.  HIE reduces the amount of time patients spend filling out paperwork and briefing their providers on their medical history, allowing more time for discussions about health concerns and treatments. And by saving time for patients and providers along the entire continuum of health care delivery, HIE has the potential to both reduce costs and improve health outcomes.

Appropriate, timely sharing of vital patient information can better inform decision making at the point of care and allow providers to

  • Improve patient safety by reducing medication and medical errors;
  • Increase efficiency by eliminating unnecessary paperwork and handling;
  • Provide the health care team with clinical decision support tools for more effective care and treatment;
  • Reduce health related costs by eliminating redundant or unnecessary testing; and
  • Improve healthcare quality and outcomes.

Will Overlake's HIE support my practice if we are paper-based?

Yes. We offer an HIE solution similar to paper faxing where we can automatically print results to a designated printer within your practice, provided that printer is connected to a computer.  Our other HIE solutions also have the ability to print the desired results you need on an as needed basis, rather than printing every single result.  This workflow may assist in lessening the amount of paper used at your practice. 

Can I set my practice up with more than one of the HIE solutions offered?

Yes, we encourage setting up at least two types of HIE solutions per practice.  There are some combinations that cannot be done (for example, we cannot combine PDF delivery with auto-print delivery).  The most common HIE solution combinations we have implemented are:  PDF delivery and ProAccess or EpicLink OR Auto-Print delivery and ProAccess or EpicLink.  Do you have a different combination in mind?  Contact us and we can discuss your workflow to see what would work best for your clinic!

Which browsers are supported by EpicLink or ProAccess?

EpicLink and/or ProAccess can be accessed via Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari (Macintosh) and Google Chrome.

What is the difference between EpicLink and ProAccess?

EpicLink and ProAccess are two different web-based applications that provide view access to a patients chart at Overlake Medical Center. The below chart summarizes the similarities and differences each application possess.

I already use your HIE, but how do I reset my password?

To reset your password, please send an email to helpdesk@overlakehospital.org.

I am a physician or clinical staff user with full access (able to edit a patient's chart) to Overlake's Epic EHR. Can I also have access to EpicLink?

Unfortunately, no, Epic is not set up to allow users to have access to both full Epic Hyperspace AND EpicLink.  If you enter chart notes and see patients at Overlake Hospital, you should definitely keep your access to Epic.  You may find it helpful for your clinical staff to have access to EpicLink to pull patients charts and print results/notes for your patients when they are seen at Overlake Medical Center.  If you are interested in giving your staff access to EpicLink, please contact us at one@overlakehospital.org.
