The Clinical Data Analyst is a data specialist and consultant to management and staff regarding clinical data needs.  Develops and maintains data solutions using Overlake Hospital’s analytical and clinical data systems.  Understands the business rules used to generate the data available in these systems and the applicability of the various data elements in creating data solutions. Responsible for querying and reporting of data to meet federal, state and accrediting regulations and in support of the clinical effectiveness program at Overlake Hospital. Coordinates the planning, defining and testing new measures, development and documentation of data or automation collection processes, validate data accuracy, and improvement of data collections.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years experience implementing and/or managing health-care or business database systems preferred.  Relevant data management and data analysis experience, including use of statistical methods, query development required.  .  Hospital administrative, clinical, and financial systems experience is strongly preferred.  Previous clinical experience in health care, health services research field or an acute care hospital strongly preferred.
  • Requires skills with MS Excel creating graphs, formulas, and functions; spreadsheet formation with formulas inserted, retrieving/importing data from other sources, exporting data to other tools use of macros and pivot tables.
  • MS Access - Importing data from other sources, linking to external data sources, creating tables, forms, queries, and reports; exporting data to other sources required.
  • Preferred skills using Premier Clinical Advisor, SPSS - Importing data from other sources, exporting data to other sources, creating graphs, understanding of SPSS syntax, utilization of statistical tests and tools.
  • Tableau- Proficient with data visualization software preferred.
  • Crystal Reports - Connecting to databases, joining tables, filtering the data, formatting, grouping, creating parameters, writing formulas, publishing to Infoview and scheduling preferred.
  • Microsoft SQL - Proficient with SQL query language required. Use and understand the Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager programs, write SQL statements to extract and integrate data, create stored procedures and ETL processes preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DRGs, ICD-10, CPT coding, APR/DRGs preferred.
  • Medical Terminology, Anatomy/Physiology or Physical Science; Knowledge of patient outcome measurements preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required.  Must be able to communicate with individuals and groups representing all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in rapidly changing environment with multiple demands and priorities.  Self starter with strong attention to detail & ability to prioritize and carry out work independently.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and proven ability to effectively and proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Customer service:  Anticipates and takes personal responsibility for customer satisfaction.  Consistently goes out of the way to listen, understand and support the needs of others in a sensitive manner.
