Diabetes Nurse Educator (Per Diem) - Overlake Medical Centers

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is seeking a Per Diem Diabetes Nurse Educator/Program Coordinator to join the team! This is a per diem/on call role in which someone will help cover team members time off.

In this role, the nurse educator conducts needs assessments for patients seen in the clinic, plans group education for patients and their families for diabetes self-management, implements diabetes education and serves as a resource to other staff members.

  • Degree in Nursing.
  • Valid current licensure in the individual's profession in Washington State.  Certified by the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators.
  • Recent teaching experience in outpatient and/or inpatient education.
  • As required for certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
  • CDCES certification required, preferred experience with program coordination.
  • Exposure to and contact with disinfectants, body fluids, needles and lancing devices.  Exposure to video display terminal.
  • Require movement throughout the hospital; telephone contact, operation of equipment necessitating manual dexterity and visual competency.  Some computer/ keyboarding work throughout the day.  Lifting and carrying supplies and equipment for diabetes self-management education.
