Overview
CREST-2
The Carotid Revascularization and Medical Management for Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis (CREST-2) Study
Objective
CREST-2 is a study for people who have narrowing in their carotid artery without stroke warning signs caused by that artery, such as small strokes or temporary strokes called TIAs, temporary paralysis or numbness on one side of the body, temporary slurring of speech, or other temporary brain symptoms.
CREST‐2 is comparing intensive medical management alone to intensive medical management used in combination with a procedure involving reopening the carotid artery in the neck for treatment of plaque buildup to prevent stroke from the narrowing of the carotid artery.
