Overlake Medical Center & Clinics today announced that it is a recipient of the Healthgrades 2021 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award.™ This award places Overlake Medical Center among the top 5% of all hospitals evaluated for providing outstanding quality outcomes in gynecologic surgery. Overlake is the only hospital in the state of Washington to achieve this honor in 2021.

In addition, Overlake is also a recipient of Healthgrades’ five-star rating in hysterectomies, which indicates that patients undergoing this procedure have statistically significantly better-than-expected clinical outcomes, and places Overlake among national leaders.

“This award exemplifies Overlake’s commitment to providing innovative, quality care to not only the Eastside but the entire region,” said J. Michael Marsh, President & CEO of Overlake Medical Center & Clinics. “To say we are proud to be the only hospital in Washington state to receive this award and honor is an understatement. I want to thank our physicians, nurses and staff for their tireless work in caring for our patients.”

“Women can feel confident selecting a hospital recognized for the Healthgrades 2021 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award, as this shows the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing top quality care for women,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades.

To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance in gynecologic surgery, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcomes data for hospitals from 16 individual states that provided all-payer data for years 2017 through 2019. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality for gynecologic surgery. From 2017 through 2019, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award had, on average, a 45.9% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
