Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is pleased to be recognized as a national leader and 2023 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award recipient (sixth consecutive year), as well as a five-star recipient in service categories for hysterectomy (ninth consecutive year, 2015-2023) and bariatric surgery, according to information released by Healthgrades—a leading resource for consumers in locating a hospital or doctor. Overlake is also the only hospital in Washington state to receive the 2023 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award and the only hospital in the Seattle area to receive a five-star rating for bariatric surgery for 2024.

“Overlake’s Ob-Gyn and Bariatric Surgery care teams are nothing short of exceptional, and their dedication to providing compassionate care is what keeps our patients safe and sets them up for success in their recovery,” said President and CEO J. Michael Marsh, Overlake Medical Center & Clinics. “When you choose Overlake for your care, our promise is that you will receive leading-edge care delivered by physicians who are among the most highly skilled and experienced in the region.”

This quality award is based only on the factors that matter most to consumers—patient outcomes. The Healthgrades analysis revealed significant variation in care across the nation’s obstetrics and gynecology and bariatrics programs, making the importance of choosing the highest quality of care more important than ever.

Patients treated at five-star rated hospitals for bariatric surgery average a 76.2% lower risk of experiencing a complication than if they were treated at a hospital with 1-star.* Additionally, patients treated in hospitals receiving Healthgrades’ Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award have, on average, a 46.8% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*

“Healthgrades congratulates Overlake Medical Center & Clinics for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high-quality care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate their quality of care, these elite facilities are leading the way. We commend Overlake for its dedication to excellence.”
