American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Recognizes Overlake Team with Award for Excellence

Bellevue, Wash. – The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), recently awarded a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence to the Critical Care Unit at Overlake Medical Center.

“The Beacon Award for Excellence is a significant milestone on the path to providing outstanding patient care and healthy work environments,” said Chief Nursing Officer Julie Clayton. “Our team works incredibly hard, which doesn’t surprise me at all; they are an exceptional group.”

“With this award, we are pleased to recognize caregivers in stellar units whose consistent and systematic approach to evidence-based care optimizes patient outcomes,” said AACN President Clareen Wiencek. “Teams that receive this recognition serve as role models to other institutions on the journey to excellent patient and family care.”

The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s Healthy Work Environment Standards in:

  • Evidence-Based Practice and Processes.
  • Outcome Measurement.
