Caregiver Support and Advancement
Caregiver Support and Advancement
Every element of healthcare relies on people. At Overlake, we regard every single staff member as a caregiver. Each one plays a vital role in ensuring that every patient who walks through our doors finds a healing and comforting environment, feels confidence in their care and experiences respectful treatment.
Your campaign gift supports programs that nurture and support our staff while globally increasing our caregiving capacity.
Nurse Residency
When new nurses graduate and join Overlake, they participate in a 12-month program that is based on best practices and evidence-based nursing education and training. Providing novice nurses the learning, mentorship and support that they need is critical to their success as an Overlake care team member, and it ensures that they are ready and confident to provide patient care.
Transition RN Program
To help meet the critical need for surgical nurses, Overlake has instituted a training program that enables nurses currently working in other specialties to transition to inpatient or outpatient operating rooms. RNs with at least one year of experience are eligible to apply for transition slots. A related program enables experienced nurses currently working outside of a hospital environment to transition to hospital-based nursing.
Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship Program
Individuals with an interest in a medical career can get their start through Overlake’s MA Apprenticeship Program. Individuals receive 2,000 hours of on-the-job training, 364 hours of coursework and in-person labs. These are paid positions. Overlake also covers tuition expenses for each apprentice. Apprentices complete the program as certified, credentialed MAs.
Tuition Reimbursement
With the support of a generous donor, Overlake has doubled the level of tuition reimbursement offered. Employees seeking to add educational credentials and skills may now have up to $10,000 per year in tuition costs reimbursed for qualifying programs of study. Staff members have used the program to attend nursing school, obtain advanced degrees, and obtain certifications that enable them to advance in their careers.
