In the News: Breast cancer survivor urges women to schedule missed mammograms

KING 5's Christine Pae sits down with breast-surgical oncologist April Phantana-angkool, MD, and one of her patients to discuss the importance of receiving yearly exams, like mammograms, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Research shows a significant drop in rates of mammograms due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Phantana-angkool and her patient, Anna Morari, are urging women to continue receiving their yearly mammograms and hope that their voices can save lives.

From the story: "We know that screening mammograms saves lives, so screening mammograms are able to find cancer at its smallest, earliest stage," Phantana-angkool said. "Please schedule that mammogram, pandemic or not," Anna Morari said.
