World Cancer Day

This day is a day of remembrance of all the lives lost to cancer and honoring the loved ones left behind. It is rare to find anyone whose life has not been touched in some way by cancer.

President Biden this week reignited the Cancer Moonshot initiative with a mission to accelerate the rate of progress against cancer. He aims to reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50% over the next 25 years and improve the experience of people living with and surviving cancer.

In the Overlake community, I watch with awe the resolution of our cancer health professionals at every level in this fight to treat all cancer patients with great empathy and compassion.

I envision a world where there are no barriers to the words “early detection saves lives.” Early screening is truly the way to detect cancer at its earliest stages and prevent unnecessary cancer deaths. Come and join me in envisioning a world cancer-free. Please encourage your loved ones to have their screening studies done, and this means you, too!
