Bellevue, Wash. 0 Nearly a quarter of all women have some form of pelvic health disorder that can affect their quality of life. On Feb. 25, Overlake Medical Center is bringing together a panel of experts to talk about these sensitive conditions.

Topics covered at the panel will include common disorders, what diagnosis and treatment options are available and strategies for improving pelvic floor health. Specifically, the panelists will discuss urinary and bowel incontinence, pelvic organ pressure, constipation, menopause and hormone therapy.

Presenters include Dr. Kathryn Arendt, who is board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS), Dr. Elizabeth Miller, a urogynecologist board certified in FPMRS and Kathy Golic and Sagira Vora, physical therapists. Vora is also boarded in Women’s Health.

Last year, Overlake became the first hospital in the Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) to add the new EndoWrist® Robotic Stapler, a surgical device used to repair a variety of conditions affecting the colon. At Overlake, the EndoWrist Stapler is used in procedures such as robotic colectomy and rectopexy, helping to minimize patient blood loss, decrease the length of hospital stays and speed recovery.

Next week’s panel is another demonstration of Overlake Medical Center’s continuing commitment to ensuring the highest caliber care for patients with pelvic disorders. The event is free, but preregistration is required. For more information and to register for the panel, please contact Overlake’s Department of Family & Community Education at (425) 688-5259.
