Bellevue, Wash. – Monday’s Overlake Community Partners Luncheon raised over $260,000 for the hospital’s Ensuring Excellence Fund, which supports a constellation of programs committed to providing patients with the highest caliber of care through the use of the latest technologies. The 16th annual event featured Seattle biomedical pioneer Dr. Lee Hood, who spoke to how personalized medicine is changing the face of health care.

Dr. Hood is nationally recognized for his early work with the human genome project, which led to the ability to sequence individual DNA. His Seattle-based Institute for Systems Biology is pioneering new approaches to “P4 Medicine”—predictive, preventative, personalized and participatory.

More than 400 businesses and community leaders came together at Monday’s luncheon to celebrate the important role Overlake plays in ensuring the health and wellness of the Eastside community. The November 17 event celebrated the medical center’s work caring for the Eastside’s residents and shared ways in which local business leaders can ensure the health of their workforce.

New this year, Overlake hosted a Wellness Fair prior to the luncheon. The event offered a variety of activities and information including health screenings, ergonomic demonstrations, nutritional tips, chair massages, “Ask the Doc” and “Ask the Pharmacist” opportunities.

This year marked the 16th annual event highlighting Overlake’s role in promoting the health and economic vitality of the Eastside. For more information about supporting Overlake Medical Center, go here.
