Overlake Medical Center & Clinics today announced it is has been honored as a Star Performer by the American Orthopaedics Association’s Own the Bone® program. Overlake is one of just 66 facilities nationwide to have received this distinction.

“We at Overlake are committed to providing the best care for all of our patients, which is why we participate in Own the Bone,” said Heidi Laroche, program manager of Total Joint, Orthopedic Trauma & Spine Care at Overlake. “It holds us to a higher standard and we’re thrilled that our hard work and dedication to our patients are being recognized.”

The American Orthopaedic Association’s Own the Bone® program is a national initiative designed to prevent the recurrence of fragility fractures. Its web-based program and 10 prevention measures transform the way hospitals treat fracture patients, according to the association. Hospitals that have achieved a 75% compliance rate on at least five of the 10 Own the Bone prevention measures qualify for the Star Performer designation.

The Own the Bone® program incorporates nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle counseling, drug therapy, testing and communication to measure progress to better bone health. You can find out more about Own the Bone® by clicking here.
