For the fifth year in a row, Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has earned national recognition as a 2026 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer health advice. This designation represents the highest award a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ annual Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings.

“This recognition is a testament to the expertise and compassion of our entire Childbirth Center team,” said Sandy Salmon, director of Women’s and Infant Services at Overlake. “Every day, we strive to provide safe, personalized care that supports parents and newborns through one of life’s most meaningful experiences. We’re honored to help thousands of families grow and remain committed to setting the standard for maternity care in our community.”

This is the fifth year Overlake’s has been recognized by U.S. News for its high performing maternity care. The health system first received recognition in 2021, when U.S. News began evaluating maternity hospitals, and in 2022, 2023 and 2024

Why This Matters for Expectant Parents

U.S. News’ maternity evaluation aims to help expectant parents make informed decisions, in consultation with their prenatal care providers, about where to deliver their babies. Overlake earned its High Performing designation based on key quality measures, including:

  • Low C-section rates for lower-risk pregnancies.
  • Reduced severe newborn complications.
  • Exclusive breast milk feeding rates.
  • Birthing-friendly practices.
  • Reporting on racial/ethnic disparities.

For the 2026 edition, approximately 900 hospitals nationwide submitted maternity data for evaluation.

“Hospitals designated as a U.S. News Best Hospital for Maternity Care are national leaders. This recognition means they are consistently hitting crucial patient safety benchmarks compared to other hospitals,” said Jennifer Winston, Ph.D., health data scientist at U.S. News. “It's a clear signal to expectant parents about where the highest standards of care are being practiced – when parents see this designation, they can be assured they are choosing a hospital dedicated to exceptional, evidence-based maternity care.”
