Community Circumcision Resources
Circumcision is a procedure to remove the skin covering the end of the penis (the foreskin). Typically, this procedure is done within a few weeks of birth. This procedure can also be done when a child gets older. But it can be a more complex procedure for an older child.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says that whether or not to circumcise a baby is up to each family. Families may choose to circumcise their baby or not, based on cultural, religious and personal factors.
If you think you want to circumcise your child, it’s important to call a provider or clinic to arrange for it ahead of time – in your third trimester of pregnancy. While you may not be able to make an exact appointment, you can get on the provider’s “list” and make a tentative appointment based on your due date.
